Long-term results of endolymphatic sac operation in Meniere's disease.

Long-term results of endolymphatic sac operation were evaluated in 15 patients with Meniere's disease. At the time of surgery, the endolymphatic sac could be identified in all cases. It was situated on Donaldson's line in 8 cases, and in a posterocaudal position in 7 cases. The clinical results were evaluated according to the AAoo classification as A class in 4 cases, B class in 8 cases, C class in 2 cases and D class in 1 case. The D class patient, who had had Arenberg's inner ear valve implant surgery was operated on again in an attempt to control recurrent attacks of vertigo. The other 14 patients, who were treated with Kitahara's endolymphatic sac operation, had no recurrence of vertigo. The significant electrocochleographic findings after endolymphatic sac surgery were a decrease in the SP/AP ratio and a reduction in the SP area in 5 cases and a decrease in the positive SP in 4 cases.
