A new high-throughput method for corrosion testing
2012
Abstract A new, rapid, high-throughput corrosion testing method is described, together with a computerised optical analysis method for quantification of the corrosion data. The method is described and demonstrated for aluminium alloy AA2024-T3. The test solutions were 10 −1 –10 −6 M NaCl and 0.1 M NaCl with 10 −3 –10 −7 M K 2 Cr 2 O 7 . Up to 88 simultaneous corrosion tests can be carried out on a single 100 × 75 mm plate, including controls. Testing and analysis of all samples can be completed in approximately one day. Multiple tests on multiple plates are used to show the reproducibility of the technique.
