Analysis of aerodynamic characteristics of a missile configuration

In these project efforts were put to understand the aerodynamic characteristics of medium range Air-to-Air missile. The aerodynamic coefficients were obtained using theoretical methods, wind tunnel testing and computational fluid dynamics. In our wind tunnel we tested a full scale model rocket model. The data obtained was made error free and analyzed using CFD to determine the variation of aerodynamic characteristics at different angles of attack. Various graphs were obtained for different parameters. Further theoretical methods were used to measure a axial force and normal force on missile at different angle of attack. A comparative study of both was carried out. The experimental data obtained were compared with both CFD and theoretical modes and the various non-linearity's were observed and studied. From these the conclusion the competence of the missile that was tested was inferred.
