DECENTRALISED MANAGEMENT OF MAIN ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE MAINTENANCE: IMPLICATIONS FOR KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

1995
There is a growing interest in the Netherlands for insight into the justification of the money spent on main road maintenance. Most important is the search for the highest social benefit per guilder spent, the policy determined constraints being given. The introduction of cost key figures, related to the product (the road) quality, offers the opportunity for a more decentralised management of the maintenace process. The implications for the knowledge requirements are considerable. (A) For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 876637.
