Impedance angle changes analysis applied to short circuit fault detection

2012
Induction motor winding fault is one of the frequent faults, and one of the most important reasons of making traction motors out of order. In this paper, an appropriate and effective method based on impedance angle changes is proposed to detect turn to turn fault. To do this, finite element method (FEM) by helping of ANSOFT software is used for creating different turn to turn faults conditions. A 1.5 KW, 3-phase squirrel cage induction motor has been used for experimental tests and verifying simulation results.
