A generalized theory of preference

1999
Abstract In this paper we state a characterization of a generalized measure of preference associated with an event. This generalized measure extends the well-known Picard concept of preference (which was stated on the basis of the utility or importance of an event and the probability of this event). The characterization in this paper establishes preferences as functions of the utility or importance of an event and the generalized information associated with it.
