The Effect of Hydrogen Sorbed by Iron on Anodic Dissolution of Metal in Sulfate Electrolytes

2013
The mechanism of anodic dissolution of hydrogenated iron in sulfate electrolyte (pH 5.5) is studied with the use of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in combination with bipolar membrane electrode. Based on comparison of rate constants of elementary stages of the anodic process in acidic (pH 1.3) and weakly acidic (pH 5.5) sulfate electrolytes, the reaction scheme of active dissolution of iron is made more accurate.
