Laser for disc pit associated maculopathy

Vitrectomy with internal gas tamponade, supplemented with photocoagulation, has often been recommended as the treatment of choice for the serous macular detachment associated with an optic nerve pit. However, laser photocoagulation alone is a noninvasive, equally efficacious outpatient procedure that leads to resolution of the serous macular detachment as highlighted by this report.
