Indirect Effect of X-Irradiation on Spleen Acid Deoxyribonuclease Activity

Irradiation of the mouse spleen alone with doses up to to 4000 r causes similar depression of cellular content and much less increase in DNase activity per average cell than 800 r administered to the body with the spleen shielded. Irradiation of body and spleen with 800 r, which is lethal, produced a greater effect on these parameters than irradiation of the body alone with this debe (not lethal). The nature of the indirect effect on the spleen is discussed,
