Acoustic fields of concave cylindrical transducers

The calculation of ultrasonic beam profiles from concave cylindrical sources is carried out, using the diffraction impulse response approach. Both transient and continuous wave radiation and receiving patterns can be derived with this method. Analytic expressions are given for the impulse response, in certain conditions, and numerical integration methods are applied for solving the problem at points of divergence. Experimental results obtained in water are presented for comparison.
