The influence of different rootstocks on mineral composition of Srinagar Mandarin (citrus reticulata Blanco) leaves

Abstract In a field experiment, the influence of several rootstocks of citrus, viz., Srinagar mandarin (C. reticulta Blanco), Malta common (C. sinensis Osbeck), Jambhiri (C. lambhiri Lush), Kagzi kalan (C. aurantifolia Swingle), Rangpur lime (C. limonia Osbeck), Carrizo citrange (bigeneric hybrid), Baduvapuli (C. pennivesiculata Tanaka), Cleopatra (C. reticulata Blanco), Troyer citrange (bigeneric hybrid) and Hill lemon (C. limon Barm f.) on mineral composition of Srinagar mandarin (C. reticulata Blanco) leaves was studied. The results showed a wide and varying influence of rootstocks on mineral composition in scion leaves due to their differential ability to absorb nutrients and to translocate to scion leaves. Malta and mandarin rootstocks were generally associated with less N, Ca and Mg concentrations in scion leaves than rough lemon and citranges rootstocks.
