Das Oktav-Virginal aus dem Leipziger Musikinstrumenten-Museum: Uberklebungen auf kolorierten Kupferstichen im Deckel

1995
Parts of a 17th-century octave virginal were cleaned, particularly focusing on the decorated sounding board. String fragments consisted of phosphor-containing iron wire. An engraving by N. de Bruyn was removed from the inside lid of the instrument. An original engraving, a copy after D. Vinckboon, was discovered underneath, and also removed. Both prints were washed and repaired. The Vinckboon print was adhered to mat board and reattached on the lid. The other print was prepared for separate storage.
