Justice and climate change

2021
Abstract This chapter examines anthropogenic climate change through the lens of justice, highlighting issues of injustice that arise from past and ongoing contributions to climate change as well as examining how justice and equity can inform the design of cooperative responses to climate change. Based in a critical examination of normative principles expressed in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, it considers how conceptions and principles of justice can guide international burden-sharing approaches to climate change mitigation and adaptation, and applies these to controversies within international climate politics.
