Anomalous Low Temperature States in CeNi2Ge2

2008
Strongly correlated electron materials in general andthe heavy fermion compounds in particular exhibit un-usual metallic states and low temperature phase transi-tions that remain only partly understood. The temper-ature dependences of the thermodynamic and transportproperties, and in particular of the resistivity, allow us toidentify a number of apparently distinct regimes. At hightemperatures, a weakly temperature dependent, large re-sistivity consistent with scattering from thermally disor-dered local magnetic moments is observed down to anupper temperature scale, T
