A temperature-independent multi-walled carbon-nanotube sheet electrode for transparent touch screen

2012
A multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) sheet electrode for a transparent touch screen has been proposed and reported in this paper. The MWCNT sheet is directly spun out from well-aligned CNT forest and exhibits excellent piezoresistive sensing that can be utilized for a touch panel screen. Fabrication of the MWCNT sheet electrode is very simple and requires only a one step process, which MWCNT sheet transfer onto poly-dimethylsioxane (PDMS). MWCNT films have a sheet resistance, ∼470 Ω/sq, an optical transparency of ∼90 % of and a flexibility comparable to that of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) films. Moreover, the MWCNT sheet does not need any purification process and exhibits stable electrical properties under fluctuating elevated temperatures known to degrade electrical properties. Therefore, The MWCNT sheet electrode is promising a candidate for transparent electrode.
