Distribution of energy loss by muons in a shielded scintillator
1980
Abstract The energy lost by muons passing through 9.2 g cm −2 of scintillator is calculated by a Monte Carlo technique. Both high energy and low energy transfers are carefully accounted for and the resulting energy loss distributions are plotted as a function of incident muon energy. The probability of electromagnetic bursts contaminating the scintillator response is also calculated as a function of muon energy.
