Simulation Based Detailed Planning for Agile Manufacturing

2012
This paper deals with a method for simulation based detailed planning to realize a maximum of adaptability in process planning and production control with minimum planning effort. For this purpose, alternative machining operations are generated using a dynamic ontology. The generated machining operations are evaluated referring to time, costs and quality. To be able to evaluate quality results for the machined workpiece, a virtual ramp-up cycle is developed. In case of a disturbance caused by quality failures during manufacturing, the adaptive detailed planning allows to shift to an alternative operation. The integration of process simulation into a planning method permits an agile manufacturing process and leads to benefits of time and costs.
