Clinical study in the functional state of the orbicularis oculi muscle after lower lid blepharoplasty

2010
Objective To study the functional state and the influencing factors of the orbicularis oculi muscle after lower lid blepharoplasty. Method 32 patients (64 eyes) with eyelid bagswere performed lower lid blepharoplasty with a myocutaneous flap method. Before and 5, 14, 30, 90 and 180 days, the lacrimal sac excretion function was detected with the method of the (lye disappearing in eonjunctival sac. Results The time of the dye disappearing in eonjunetival sac was markedly prolonged at the 5 d, 14 d, 30 d after operation ( P 〈 0. 001 ) , but it had no significant difference between the before operation day and 90 d, 180 d after the operation ( P 〉 0.05 ). Conclusion The function of the orbieularis oeuli muscle is obviously weakness in the earlier post-period of lower lid blepharoplasty with a myocutaneous flap method. It is necessary to operate carefully and alleviate the injury of tissue in opetating, which will be helpful for the functional reenvery of orbicularis oculi muscle. Key words: lower lid blepharoplasty ;  tension of the orbicularis oculi muscle;  lacrimal sac function test
