Feasibility of treatment of severe acute respiratory syndrome with maelatonin and its derivatives

Melatonin is an endogenous substance with varies of physiological effects. It has been reported that melatonin appeared anti-inflammation and scavenging free radicals in vivo. It could protect tissuses against injuries. New experimental results show that melatonin and its derivatives could improve the situations of acute respiratory syndrome in animal models. It is suggested that these compounds may play roles in therapeutic of severe acute respiratory syndrome.
