Primary beam transport methods in LAHET

Recent development efforts for LAHET and MCNPX have included the implementation of defined elastic and reaction cross sections for the transport and interaction of nucleons and pions. Current interest in high-energy proton radiograph has led to this feature being exploited to provide highly efficient calculations for the transport of the primary beam without the production of secondary particles. In addition to providing a new tool for design calculations, the new features are valuable for efficient testing and evaluation of improved methods for nuclear elastic and multiple Coulomb scattering.
