Erste Betriebserfahrungen mit der Rauchgasreinigung der Thermischen Ersatzbrennstoffanlage Neumünster

2008
In 2005 Stadtwerke Neumunster started the operation of the new Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) plant. The new plant has a capacity of about 150,000 tons RDF per year which is produced in the mechanical-biological separation stage. A special requirement for the plant is the ability to switch immediately during operation to a firing with coal. Since the chloride content of RDF and coal is of big difference the chemistry of the flue gas cleaning plant has to be able to react quickly to keep the emissions safe below the specified limits. Since the site of the TEV Neumunster is located in the centre of of the town Neumunster there has been paid a special attention to keep the emissions as low as possible. Therefore a flue gas cleaning according the Alstom NID technology has been selected. On July 2, 2008, the SWN Stadtwerke Neumunster received an environmental award for eco-friendly waste processing, where the TEV played a key role in the evaluation. The following article describes the flue gas cleaning concept, specials of the project, experiences of the commisioning phase as well as experiences out of the three years operation period. In addition the actual emissions are presented and the behaviour of the facility regarding inlet peaks is discussed.
