Lynestrenol and its effect on the contractility of the human non pregnant uterus

1975
The effect of lynestrenol on the contractility of the nonpregnant uterus was studied in 10 patients who requested fertility control. The patients had the following characteristics: multiparity eumenorrhea healthy cervix absence of septic genital foci absence of congenital malformations and of uterine tumors. Tests were performed using the technique described by Jaumandreu and Hendricks during both phases of the cycle before and after treatment with intervals of 5-7 days and for a duration of 2-3 hours. All the studies were longitudinal. The drug was administered orally in doses of .5 mg beginning on the 1st day of menstruation and continuously for several cycles. The drug increased the tone intensity and frequency of uterine contractions with more marked effects during the estrogenic phase.(AUTHORS MODIFIED)
