Influence of substituents on the electron-donor properties of tetrathiafulvalenes. I. Electrochemical oxidation potentials

1986
The discovery of the high conductivity and the superconductivity of some radical-ion salts of tetrathiafulvalenes stimulated much practical and theoretical interest in this class of heterocyclic compounds. A characteristic feature of tetrathiafulvalene derivatives is the lowness of their ionization potentials (IP 6.2-7.2 eV) and the stability of the radical-ion salts and dications formed on oxidation.
