Determinazione di biocidi organo-stannici (OS) in matrici di cuoio

The use of tributyltin (TBT) and similar organotin derivatives was recently forbidden by Community law. Presence of organotin fungicides was found in some textiles, but consumers worry pulls to test any other kind of commodity that could interact with the human body. Therefore we have applied and modified an analytical GC-MS detection method that was specifically adapted to leather matrices. Known TBT amounts were added to leather samples, that were firstly exctracted in methanol with a proper TBT complexing agent. The solution was recovered, derivatized with NaBEt 4 to a TBT volatile ethylderivate and finally gas-chromatographed. The observed TBT detetection limits in the methanol exctracts and in the original leather samples were 0.035 ppm and 0.175 mg/kg respectively. Data on extraction yields and statistical reliability are also discussed.
