Chapter 3. Disability Discrimination In Employment

The Chinese definition of a disability is set down in the Law on Protection of Disabled Persons, 'A disabled person is someone who has a mental, psychological, or physical impairment, someone who has fully or partially lost the ability to carry out activities in a normal fashion'. A great number of experts have voiced many opinions, demonstrating the lack of consensus over disability discrimination. Disabled people face many more difficulties in finding employment than nondisabled people, and there is always a relatively large difference between the employment rates of the two groups. Many work places, residential buildings, roads and transport services fail to install any services for disabled people, and quite a number of work units refuse to employ disabled people because the units lack the necessary access and services.
