DIRECT CHIRP MEASUREMENT IN A TWO-SECTION ELECTROABSORPTION MODULATOR

The absorption properties and the refractive index change of an electroabsorption modulator were determined directly in the waveguide configuration by evaluation of the modulation depth and the shift of Fabry–Perot modes. The shift direction indicates the sign of the chirp parameter. Chirp compensation is demonstrated with a two-section modulator. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
