Clinical Effect of OPA-K Straight Wire Appliance Applied in Angle Class III Malocclusion with Extraction Treatment

Objective To evaluate the effects of OPA-K straight wire appliance in extraction treatment of Angle class III malocclusion.Methods 17 cases of Angle class III malocclusion admitted to department of stomatology of our hospital from Jan.2009 to Jun 2011 were chosen and treated with OPA-K straight wire appliance.Cephalometric analysis was performed before and after the treatment.Results The concave facial profi le of all the patients was improved signifi cantly.The treatment time was 17 to 30 months,with an average of 23.24 months.After treatment,cephalometric analysis showed that the SNA,ANB,U1-NA and SN–MP were signifi cantly increased(P0.05),and SNB,L1-NB and U1-L1 were signifi cantly reduced(P0.05).Conclusions OPA-K straight wire appliance is effective in treating Angle class III malocclusion,which is worthy of promotion.
