Tidal mixing in the channel isles region derived from the results of remote sensing and measurements at sea

Abstract Satellite images and measurements at sea have identified a pattern of tidal fringes S.W. of Jersey. From the fringe separation it is possible to estimate the residual currents in the region. From the dissipation time scale of the fringes it is possible to derive a value for the non-dimensional coefficient of tidal mixing.
