Mark Heiss—Touch Football

2020
‘For me sport reflects life, or it reflects character, so I need to send them a message, and be consistent in my morals in life as I am in my morals in coaching. So yeah, honesty, that idea of having a go, passion, and really reflecting what’s accepted of my own life. I try not to make decisions based on coaching that I’m not comfortable with based on in life.’ Mark Heiss is a Wiradjuri man who was born and raised on the land of the Gadigal and Bidjigal peoples. He is a level 2 touch football coach and educational leader who works as the Director of Innovation and Learning, Marist College North Shore. He has coached in school and representative contexts for more than 15 years, is currently the Chair of the National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Academy and Director at the Aurora Education Foundation.
