A solid-state relay for transformer switching
1986
A static relay, which can distinguish the magnetizing inrush current from the short-circuit current of a transformer is suggested. This eliminates the use of the desensitizing arrangement or the costly harmonic-current-restraint relay but preserves the inherent features of an over-current relay and the advantages of a static relay. The circuit is equally good for 1-phase as well as 3-phase applications.
