Postural Awareness in Students and Teachers

2017
This book is written based on a research conducted to ascertain the awareness level for maintaining correct body posture in school going students and teachers of different academic institutions belonging to a developing country. The research is carried out in Karachi, Pakistan. This study also compared the level of awareness for keeping good body postures between students and teachers. A descriptive, inductive and survey-based approach is employed for data gathering. The data is collected using survey and self-administered questionnaire with closed-ended answers from 132 respondents. Questionnaires are designed in such a manner to strengthen the process of data collection through extracting the information related to the discussed phenomena. The gathered data is analyzed through various statistical features of an industry-standard quantitative tool, specifically, SPSS. The study shows that there is comparable knowledge and awareness between students and teachers about good and bad postures. However, they still need further education to improve their awareness level about maintaining good body postures while performing ADLs and, consequently, to prevent prevalence of body pain due to bad postures.
