Herencia, política e identidad entre los garífunas de Belice

Paper presented during the V Central American Anthropology Congress (Managua, Februrary 23-27, 2004). It analyzes how some organizations in Belize integrate a cultural approach into their work by drawing linkages between heritage and social mobilization. It illustrates how cultural elements play a defining role in the construction of Garifuna identity when promoting socio-economic, local development.
