In the high-content carotenoid compound, the content of total carotenoid is larger than 95 wt%, wherein the proportion of all-trans (3S, 3'S)-astaxanthin in the high-content total carotenoid is larger than 80 wt%. The carotenoid crystal has high purity and can be applied in the fields of human dietary supplements, food additives, feed additives and cosmetics in a variety of forms. Meanwhile, the invention further provides a preparation method of the high-content carotenoid compound from adonis amurensis, and the method is simple and reliable and is suitable for industrial production.
