Identification of Proferrorosamine Producing Pseudomonas sp. Strain GH (LMG 11358) as Erwinia rhapontici

Summary The taxonomic position of the proferrorosamine A producing strain Pseudomonas sp. GH (LMG 11358) was studied. Phenotypic characterization (API 20E and API 50CHE), gaschromatographic analysis of methylated cellular fatty acids and sodiumdodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gelelectrophoresis of whole-cell proteins all support reclassification of LMG strain 11358 as Erwinia rhapontici . All previously reported data on the iron-chelating capacity of the strain are thus linked with the genus Erwinia and not with the genera Pseudomonas or Bacillus .
