The present invention discloses a wireless sensor networks based ship hazardous condition monitoring system and method for carrier, said system comprising a plurality of sensor nodes, a plurality of relay nodes, base stations, communications gateway ship and shore monitoring center; said sensor nodes connected by the relay node and the base station; the base station is connected to shore by ship monitoring center communication gateway; the sensor node comprises a plurality of sensors for collecting status parameters of dangerous goods. The present invention improves the safety of dangerous goods transport ships, to provide protection for life and property safety and environmental safety of the crew, suitable for shipping industry widely.
