Compatibility and stability of bupivacaine and sufentanil admixture in bags

The compatibility and chemical stability of bupivacaine and sufentanil admixture were studied. Admixtures of bupivacaine 40 mug.mL- 1 and sufentanil 12 mug.mL- 1 in 0.9 % sodium chloride were prepared in polyvinyl chloride bags which were stored at 4° C or 25° C. Samples were removed immediately and at various times during storage (3, 9, 14, 22, 43 d). The stability was determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The combination of bupivacaine-sufentanil was compatible and the stability was maintained for 43 days at 4° C or 25° C.
