The diagnostic analysis of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding by capsule endoscopy in 37 cases

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of the capsule endoscopy in obscure gastrointestinal bleeding(OGIB),and observe the compliance and security of using capsule endoscopy in patients.Methods Capsule endoscopy were performed in 37 patients with OGIB,which was defined as negative finding by gastroscopy and colonoscopy from October 2009 to July 2011 in our hospital.Results Thirty-three patients(89.2%) were found abnormal under the capsule endoscopy,the diagnostic rate was 56.8%.In addition to one case of capsule endoscopy retention,the inspection process did not appear other complications.Conclusion The capsule endoscopy is safe and well tolerated with a high diagnostic rate in diagnosis of OGIB.
