SOME GENERALISATIONS OF CONFIDENCE INTERVAL ESTIMATES OBTAINED FROM INTERVAL ARITHMETIC
2013
The confidence intervals estimated using simple interval arithmetic can be 40% larger than the correct value. Here we provide a general upper bound on this discrepancy which we use to estimate the correct value from the estimate obtained from interval arithmetic. This approximation can be within 4% of the correct value for the kinetic models we examine.
