ACOUSTIC EMISSION GENERATED BY CYCLIC BENDING IN DAMAGED RC BEAM

1997
Recently, acoustic emission (AE) technique has come into use for non-destructive evaluation of infrastructures. Because AE behaviors correspond to the fracture mechanisms of materials, it could provide helpful information about the damaging process of the interior of a structure. To identify AE sources quantitatively, a procedure for AE waveform analysis is developed based on a moment tensor analysis. Experimental application is attempted practical AE waveform-data recorded at the cyclic loading tests of reinforced concrete (RC) beams which were damaged by static bending load in advance. Determination of AE source kinematics is performed in the damage process of the RC beams. Furthermore the frequency analysis of AE waves was also carried out.
