The synthesis of 1′-N-methyl-2′-oxoanabasine, an analogue of cotinine
1994
Abstract The synthesis of 1′-N-methyl-2′-oxoanabasine, a hepatic microsomal metabolite of 1′-N-methylanabasine is described. Treatment of 1′-N-methylanabasine with bromine yielded an intermediate geminal dibrominated derivative, the structure of which has been confirmed by DEPT and COSY spectra. Treatment of the intermediate with zinc yielded the required compound.
