A laminate material for sliding elements, use and process for its preparation

1996
The invention concerns a laminated material for sliding elements, the material comprising a metal carrier layer and a plastics sliding layer applied thereto. The laminated material is characterized in that it adheres well to the substrate without having the disadvantages of known PVDF-based bearing materials. The plastics sliding layer comprises between 60 and 95 vol % PVDF, the remainder consisting of PTFE or PTFE and at least one further component having a density of less than 7 g/cm . The amount of this further component can be a maximum of 5 vol %. Fully or partially aromatic polymers, such as PI, PAE, polyamides, PPS, PES, PEEK, PSU or polyester, carbon variants such as graphite, carbon black, carbon fibres or coke, MoS2, BN, CaF2 or CaCO3 can be used as further components. According to the production method, a powdered mixture of these components is sprinkled onto the metal substrate and is then heated to a temperature above the softening point of the PVDF portion in order to form the plastics sliding layer which is then burnished.
