Antioxidant capacity of some new N-(2-bromophenyl)-2-hydroxy-benzamide derivatives

2017
In the present study, novel 2-hydroxy-benzanilide derivatives, esters, hydrazides and hydrazones were obtained by conventional heating syntheses. The antioxidant capacity of all compounds has been screened using both, chemical and electrochemical procedures. The results for antioxidant activities using DPPH assay, ABTS method, FRAP assay and cyclic voltammetry were expressed as Trolox equivalents for a good correlation between the methods. Total antioxidant activity of the tested compounds, expressed as mM/L Trolox Eq., ranged from 0.0500 to 4.3809 (DPPH), 0.0035 to 5.9158 (ABTS) and 2.4240 to 15.5694 (FRAP), the highest values being obtained for the hydrazide and hydrazones derivatives.
