Preliminary study on vacuum degree online detection of vacuum circuit breaker based on laser induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS)

In order to satisfy the application requirement and promote environment friendly switchgear development, a vacuum degree online detection method based on laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) for vacuum circuit breaker is proposed in this paper. A pules laser with 8mJ energy, 1064nm wavelength, 8ns duration is used to bombard the shield material and then induce plasma, the plasma light is collected by spectrometer. HI at 656.1nm, OI at 777.2nm and 777.4nm of the ambient air are analyzed, preliminary results indicate the spectral lines intensity change with pressure and the minimum detected pressure can lower than 10 −3 Pa with good resolution ratio. This is a hopeful method to solve the tough problem of vacuum degree online detection of vacuum circuit breaker.
