Tunnelutrymning: Effekten av gångbanans bredd på förflyttningshastighet vid utrymning i en spårtunnel

2012
A safety feature for the evacuation of a rail tunnel is the construction of walkways running parallel to the tracks, constructed at the level of the train’s exits. There is currently a lack of research-based information pertaining to how the width of the walkway may affect evacuation. In September 2012 an evacuation experiment was performed, the aim of which was to explore how the width of the walkway contributes to the density of the evacuees, their speed and flow. The participants mainly consisted of students from Lund’s University. Speed and dynamic flow was found to increase on a linear scale alongside increasing width of the walkway.
