Value of CT-guided Percutaneous Biopsy for the Spine Lesions
2010
Objective To explore the technology and diagnostic value of CT-guided percutaneous biopsy for the spine lesions.Materials and Methods Sixty-two cases of patients(45 male,17 female) with the spine lesion underwent CT-guided percutaneous biopsy. The spinal lesions involved single vertebra in 38 cases, two vertebrae in 14 cases, and multiple vertebral in 10 cases. The localization of lesions were cervical vertebra in 2 cases, thoracic vertebra in 28 cases, lumbar vertebra in 25 and sacral vertebra in 7 cases.Precise needle paths were designed according to CT images. The biopsy specimens were further histologically examed. Results Adequate specimens for pathologic examination were obtained in 52 of 62 cases (80.8%).The remaining 10 cases included no specimen be obtained(6 cases),uncertainty pathological diagnosis (3 cases) and discordancy(1 cases).Clear histological diagnosis was obtained after i mmunohistochemistry examination in 10 cases. Conclusion CT guided pereutaneous biopsy is a minimally invasive, safe and reliable tool in the evaluation of spinal lesions.
