Substituted benzimidazole and indazole derivative, its production and herbicidal composition containing the same

PURPOSE: To obtain a new compd. having activity to weeds of wide range contg. a monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous plant and selectivity to some plants, and useful as selective herbicide for cotton plant, soybean, corn, rice plant and wheat. CONSTITUTION: The new compd. is represented by formula I {dotted lines represent two double bonds which are arranged to form condensed heterocyclic- aromatic ring; Ar is an aryl or heterocyclic ring; W is O or NR 1 (R 1 is H or an alkyl); A, B and D are independently selected from N, NR 2 , N-E, CR 6 , C-E or C(R 6 )E, provided two of them are N, NR 2 or N-E and at least one of them has a group E represented by formula II [R 3 and R 4 are each H, an arkyl, halogen, etc.; X is (CH 2 ) 0-2 , CH=CH, etc.; R 5 is CO 2 R 11 (where R 11 is an alkyl, aryl, etc.), CN, CSNH 2 , etc.]; R 2 is H, CN, an alkyl, etc.; R 6 is R 2 or a halogen}, e.g. 2-[6-(2-chloro-4-trifluoromethyl-6-fluorophenoxy)indazol-1-yl]ethylpropionate.
