Non-overload Optimization Design on Low Specific Speed Centrifugal Pump with Splitter Blades

2013
Aiming at the problems of easily overload and having humps of the TS65-40-250 centrifugal pumps.Non-overload design method and added splitter blades were adopted for parameters selection of impellers and three optimization schemes were put forward. The 3-D models and the 1.5 million structure grids were generated by Pro/E and ICEM respectively. After the boundary conditions of mass-flow rate at the inlet, pressure outlet and no-slip wall were specified and the flow model was complemented with the standard k-e model in the commercial software CFX 12.1.The flow field distributions of pressure, streamlines, turbulence kinetic energy and velocity as well as hydraulic performances in three impellers are predicted throngh simulation.Impeller1 with good hydraulic characteristics and excellent inner flow patterns were produced for experiments after prototyping rapidly. The test results are in accordance with the simulating results. The head of impeller1 is 15% higher than the design parameter at most and the efficiencies are 2%~6% higher than the designed efficiencies. The test results also show a good non-overload performances. The results prove that it is an effective and reliable method to design a non-overload pump with low specific speed.
