Adaptability of 48 introduced Medicago sativa varieties in southern of Guizhou Province.

The survival rate,grass yield,plant height and branch number of introduced 48 Medicago sativa varieties were determined and classified by clustering analysis to screen out Medicago sativa varieties for cultivation in southern of Guizhou province.The results showed that their survival rate reduced year by year and the varieties with high survival rate were SIMA1105,Muge,Defi,Mvariax,Archer,Amerigraze701,Victoria and CW680,the grass yield of 13RSuperme,Victoria,CW403,CW502,CW650,CW900,WL414,WL525 and Jieka 1 was significantly higher than other tested varieties,there was no significant difference in plant height among 48 tested varieties,there was significant difference in branch number among 48 tested varieties and the varieties with high branch number were SIMA1099,Barbara SPI,Mvariax,13RSuperme,Victoria,Jieka 1 and Longdong Medicago sativa.Barbara SPI,13RSuperme,Victoria,Millenium,WL414 and Jieka 1 varieties with good adaptability can be planted in the southern of Guizhou.
