Switching function notation for hybrid 2D-3D space vector modulation

The mathematical analysis of three-phase voltage source inverters' output phase voltages, when employing the hybrid 2D-3D space vector modulation (SVM) voltage control algorithm, is derived in this paper. The results of all modulation steps are given in terms of system and control parameters. The presented mathematical description is validated by comparing the output from the equation and the results from the Simulink model. The paper also compares between the hybrid 2D-3D SVM and conventional 2D SVM for inductive and resistive loading conditions. From power quality perspective, the simulation case studies proof that the hybrid 2D-3D SVM is better than the conventional 2D SVM.
