The accelerated cooling unit is currently being used to quench reinforcement bars Nos. 22-28 made of steels 5ps and 5sp. The capabilities of the unit made it possible to efficiently combine strengthening of the bars by hot plastic deformation and phase transformation (during the accelerated cooling) in the process of recrystallization. The ratio of the mechanical properties in the annular zone and the central part of the rods is such as to make the overall strength and ductility indices of the reinforcing bars conform to the indices for quenched and tempered steel of the class At-Shs.
